Biblical Costume Ideas:
Holy Family (Baby Jesus Joseph and Mary)

Clothing
Men only- Loin cloth, which covered from waist to knees, and was worn alone with no other clothing by the poor, the prophets and was worn as a military uniform.
Both- The tunic was a sack with a V kneck and slits for arms, men's would have been short and colored, while a woman's would hvae been ankle length and blue.
A girdle would have been worn over the tunic, made of cloth or leather and often split to provide pockets, tools and weapons would be slid beteen the tunic and girdleto hold them in place.
Both- Robes worn over the tunic provided the only warmth most people would know, and even when taken as security for a loan had to be returned to owner for night fall. Tassles on the robe showed a persons station in life, fancy for the wealthy, less so for the poor, and families had their own colors and patterns, much as the Scottish tartans.
Headware
Women wore shoulder length cloth secured by a braided cord, and a viel to cover their face in public, only prostitutes showed their hair and faces.
Men wore turbans or the same style cloth and cord as a woman.
Ornamentation and make up were used heavily.
Footware
In Biblical times, people wore sandals very similar to the oriental style sandal worn today, or they went barefooted, or with rags wrapped around their feet
